Weekly Hadith – Jeopardising Imaan;
When warning the Believers against sinning, the Prophet (salAllahu Alayhi wasallam) said, “When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it, and when a drinker of an alcoholic liquor drinks it, then he is not a believer at the time of drinking it, and when a thief steals, then he is not a believer at the time of stealing, and when a robber robs, and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of doing robbery.”
[Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 2475]
Abstaining from wrong actions and the haraam is equivalent to protecting one´s imaan, as wrong actions decrease imaan, or extinguish it altogether. Nothing in this world is worth jeopardising one´s imaan for, as it is the only asset we possess which will save us from the Hellfire, at the discretion of Allah (azza wa jal).
Pearls of Wisdom – Imaan;
“Whoever makes his religion the object of argumentation will frequently change it”
[Umer ibn Ábd Al-Aziz (rahimAllah)]
Q. Is it permissible to swallow blood from minor cuts?
Praise be to Allaah.
In the Name of Allah, the most Merciful and Compassionate,
It is not permissible for the Muslim to swallow blood, whether it is a little or a lot, because blood is haraam, unless it is swallowed by mistake or involuntarily, in which case there is nothing wrong with it. Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“He has forbidden you only the Maytah (dead animals), and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allaah (or has been slaughtered for idols, on which Allaah’s Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering). But if one is forced by necessity without willful disobedience nor transgressing due limits, then there is no sin on him. Truly, Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful”
The scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas were asked: Sometimes an individual may get a cut and he licks the blood that is coming out, which results in his swallowing the blood, or his gums bleed, so he swallows the blood that comes out. Is there anything wrong with that?
They replied: It is not permissible to swallow blood deliberately, because it is haraam. Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Forbidden to you (for food) are: Al‑Maitah (the dead animals — cattle — beast not slaughtered), blood…”
With regard to swallowing it unintentionally, there is no blame in that case. End quote.
[Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, 22/272]
And Allah is the source of strength; may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad (sal Allahu alayhi wasallam) and his family and Companions (radiAllahu anhuma).
And Allaah (SWT) knows best.
Weekly Suggested Good Deed – Shaytan Hungry and Cold;
Ibn Ab´d-Dunya narrated from some of the salaf that one shaytan (devil, or evil jinn) met with another and asked him why he was so thin. The other shaytan replied, “Because I am with a man who mentions the name of Allah when he eats, so I cannot eat with him, and he mentions the name of Allah when he drinks, so I cannot drink with him. When he enters his home, he mentions the name of Allah, and so I stay outside.” The first shaytan said, “But I am with a man who does not mention the name of Allah when he eats, so I eat with him. He does not mention the name of Allah when he drinks, so I drink with him. When he enters his home, he does not mention the name of Allah, and so I enter with him.”
[Uddat as-sabirrin wa dhakirat ash-shakirin, by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (rahimAllah)]
We should make the dhikr of Allah (remembrance of Allah) a part of our life in everything that we do, and inshaÁllah our Rabb al-Muhaymin will remember us and keep us under His protection.
